Everything You Need to Know About Peel-and-Stick Wallcoverings for Commercial Projects
Peel-and-stick earns its place where a graphic has to come down cleanly — and it punishes a poorly prepared wall.

Peel-and-stick has a reputation problem in commercial work, mostly earned by consumer products used in places they were never meant to go. Used properly, it solves a problem no other wallcovering solves as well: a high-quality graphic with a deliberate end date.
What it is genuinely good at
- Short and medium-life graphics. Campaigns, seasonal retail, event spaces, pop-ups, meeting-room branding that changes with the org chart.
- Installations that must not damage the wall. Leased space, listed interiors, landlord-restricted fit-outs.
- Fast changeovers. No paste, no bookings, no drying time, and a shorter possession of the space.
- Repositioning during install. Being able to lift and re-lay a drop is the difference between a clean seam and a compromise.
What it is not for
- Wet areas and high-humidity walls, unless the specific product is intended for them.
- Contact-heavy circulation routes where a pasted, coated wallcovering is the better answer.
- Poorly prepared or freshly painted walls. Adhesive is only as good as what it is asked to hold.
Wall preparation decides the outcome
Nearly every peel-and-stick failure is a preparation failure.
- The wall must be sound, clean, dry and dust-free.
- Fresh paint needs its full cure time before anything is applied — not "touch dry".
- Repairs should be filled and sanded flush; the film shows what is underneath.
- Test a small piece on the actual wall, in the actual room, before the full install.
Installing it well
- Work top-down, from a plumb line rather than from a corner you assume is straight.
- Peel the liner progressively rather than all at once; let the material meet the wall in a controlled line.
- Smooth from the centre outward to push air to the edges.
- Overlap or butt seams consistently across the whole wall, decided before the first drop goes up.
Taking it down
Removal is the point of the product. Lift slowly from a corner at a shallow angle and keep the pull steady — a fast, sharp pull is what takes paint with it. A PVC-free construction means what comes off the wall is not chlorinated plastic, and there are no PVC plasticisers to have migrated into the surface behind it.
Where it fits in a commercial package
Use peel-and-stick for the walls with a known end date, and pasted smooth nonwoven or clay-coated for the walls meant to stay. Most projects want both, and specifying them separately is how you get the best of each.
We manufacture 100% PVC-free peel-and-stick wallcovering alongside our clay-coated and smooth nonwoven ranges, and we do not print — your provider prints, we make the material.
Before you commit a wall: request samples and try one on the real surface, or book a virtual demo.
